This parent-teacher guide features the ancient and powerful art of storytelling to illustrate the yogic philosophy in finding both personal and world peace. A set of ready-made lesson plans urges a self-reflective practice for children and provides suggestions for follow-up activities, meditation, and relaxation in addition to the incorporation of the yoga poses with the retelling of the stories. Gina works for the author so of course their would be a great review..with the economy like it is and all!! This book is not very good at all..it is self published by Ms. Solis. They book is a copyright infringement??? Stories are tales from others, poses are basic and suggestions are terrible. I tried to apply her teachings and couldn’t hold any child’s attention!!! Not worth the money. A waste of time and money!!! Mythic is owned by the author.
After reading this book, I only wished I had read it many years ago!! Sydney Solis writes directly from the heart in such an inspiring way. Her method of teaching children yoga through story is truly amazing. There is no better way of creating peaceful children, of any age. I feel blessed to have encountered Sydney Solise and her book! The Treasure in Your Heart – Stories and Yoga for Peaceful Children (Storytime Yoga)Storytime Yoga: Teaching Yoga to Children Through Story (Storytime Yoga)The Peddler’s Dream: Yoga with a Story About Following Your Heart
I absolutely love this book! It is endearing, multicultural, and truly from the heart. If you want to share stories with children for a peaceful society, if you want them to understand that all people walk the same path, with the same frustrations, concerns, loneliness and it can be transcended, this is the book for you. If you want to integrate story during school or a yoga class, this book has everything to you need to begin exploring tales of wisdom. Heartfelt and intimate, Sydney Solis’ life is devoted to healing all children and adults.
This book, The Treasure in Your Heart, lives up to its name and goes a long way to giving us a means to create a peaceful inner life for all of the children in our lives. It goes beyond its title, because this book is as effective for adults as it is for children. A definite must-have! From the moment I received my book in the mail, it was a delight. I opened the book, I could not put it down. Sydney has a way of sharing her love for yoga and story with love and in a way that makes it flow naturally and so it is simple to teach. I say this because I am a yoga teacher, for children, teens and for adults. I also am a mother of three teens and have found the contents of this book to be truly a treasure to draw from, a treasure chest full of ideas and stories that are wonderful, inspiring, and healing. I literally carry this treasure chest with me at all times, to all of my classes. It is wonderful for an in depth study, but also great when you need a quick inspiration or idea, a story for any occassion. Many of the stories are short and sweet, perfect to tell in an adult class as well. I have sometimes handed the book to a friend who read a story and felt it was the perfect one for them to read at that time. The book also has beautiful ideas for activities, poses, surrounding the themes, the treasures. Great information about how to turn any class or your own yoga practice into a healing, meditative experience. There are lots of ideas to help guide us in relaxation techniques, meditation, chanting, and other ways in which you can create peace in your practice and in your life. It is a great resource for a new or an experienced parent or teacher. I tell all of my students to add this book to their library! Enjoy!
