Sure, I have fond memories of cereals like Captain Crunch and Cinnamon Life (It’s Mikey and I think he likes it!), but as an adult my tastes have become a bit more refined. This cereal and most other Peace cereals are perfect for more refined tastes. That is not to say that my two kids (age 5 and 2) don’t devour this stuff, but I know that at least the 5 year old is more interested in cereals that have cartoon characters on the outside and prizes on the inside of the box.
As an aside, I don’t know why they don’t call this cereal Ginger Raspberry because the Ginger is the MUCH more prominent flavor.
My daughter (3 years old) and I both really love this cereal. It is a great mix of the sharp ginger taste, with the sweetness and crunch of the raspberry, flakes, and granola. We eat it as a topping for yogurt and just can’t get enough.
The outfit that makes this is the bravest little cereal company in the world, I suspect. There’s ginger in this! In fact, the raspberry might be too mild for anyone looking for berries over ginger; but, hey, you can find all sorts of phony-berry flavored cereals. Don’t expect a lot of sweetness from this, just a lot of flavor, heavy on the ginger (at least for breakfast fare). This is for grownups with taste.
Not long ago, I tried this maker’s Maple Pecan Crisp and decided it will remain a standard on my shelf. Well, now it has company. Maybe they can give Kellogg, Quaker and Post some lessons?
