I just started a super intense MBA program that requires me to arrive at school at 6AM ready for a full-court-press mental workout. I bought this oatmeal because I was curious, honestly, how it could differ much from my regular Quaker oatmeal in cup. I’d been eating the Quaker cup for a few years now and liked it, although it was always a little too sweet for me.
The first couple of days of class I ate my regular oatmeal along with an apple or banana but I always faded badly by about 8:30AM. Never a morning riser to start with, I assumed the hours were what was killing me.
One day, just for fun, I tried my Organic Maple 4 Grain. Honestly, it’s a little too hearty for me. There’s a lot of chewing going on to get the contents from the cup to my belly. And after finishing the whole cup I certainly don’t want (or need!) an apple.
But the difference in my energy levels was obvious. I kept going strong on through about 10:30. I carry a bag of nuts and dried fruit to help me make it until my 12:30 lunch but without my morning Organic Maple 4 Grain I know it’d be suffering a lot more.
I’m definitely convinced. And I’ll definitely be ordering more here pretty soon.
In junior high and high school I would eat Quaker instant oatmeal every day… In my first years of college, the instant oatmeals sold at grocery stores were too sugary, and I made homemade oatmeal with bananas once a week. Since then I’ve tried organic oatmeal packets, and while on exchange at UNH in New Hampshire, I came across McDougal’s Oatmeal Cups at the local health store. Now I can never go back to the instant oatmeal packets, and I even prefer this oatmeal to homemade! I just love the flavor and texture. It’s creamy, from soy powder, but not too rich. It’s hearty, with lots of other grains besides oats. And so much flavor with peach and raspberry pieces, or maple flavor for the maple oatmeal variety. Filling, as you only need one, versus two dinky instant Quaker packets. Love to have as a snack too! I’ve been at home for xmas and I was missing this so much, I ordered two big cases of these, and I’m so excited! My favorite!
