Dr. Nicholas Romanov’s Pose Method of Running
Product Description
Dr. Romanov’s Pose Method Of Running brings his revolutionary ideas that changed the world of running to the professional athlete and amateur alike. In a very succinct and enjoyable manner, it teaches one to perform to the very best of his ability, using the Pose running technique. In ballet, or martial arts, one requires practice of technique. The same is true of running. Unless you are one of the lucky ones, like Haile Gebrselassie, Steve Prefontaine, or Michael Johnson, who were born with the perfect technique, you have to learn it. Until Dr Romanov’s discovery there was no coherent theory on the subject. Running was practiced, but not taught as a skill. The Pose Method proposes to teach running as a skill with its own theory, concepts, and exercises. Like any brilliant idea, the idea behind the Pose Method is simple. Every movement is built on an infinite number of poses, or positions, through which the body goes in space and time. In running, Dr. R… More >>

All though I have not applied the method yet, I am excited to do so.
I purchased this book after reading previous reviews of a new and cutting edge running style. After reading this, I am very disappointed. There is nothing new here. The running techniques used in this book are the same ones that have been taught and used by top runners for many years. Landing with your foot under your center of gravity, avoiding heel first footstrike, soft knees, high heel kick, fast turnover with short footplant time, avoiding braking action, running smoothly with little vertical motion are all running form pointers that are taught by any good coach. This is a very high price for a book that has very little new information.
At first, I was skeptical. How could a single book teach a technique that would help someone run faster and injury-free? How you can you teach someone to run? Dr. Romanov has written a book that has done all that.
There’s a certain art to running. Without the POSE method, you are like banging random notes on the piano. With the POSE method, you are able to play beautiful concerto with your running shoes and the ground.
This is a great book on running. Innovative, funny and very well written. Read it and change your (running) life.
Malcolm balk; author of “The Art of Running with the Alexander Technique”
I felt this book was poorly written. The author uses the first 130 pages explaining how he came up with his technique and trying to convince you that his technique is the best. Then spends only 10 confusing pages to explain how to actually use the pose technique to run. After that its pages and pages of drills and stretches to condition you to use the pose technique. I didn’t find it useful at all. I don’t doubt that the pose technique would be an improvement to my running. I just coldn’t learn it from this book. Instead I went to Danny Dreyer’s Chi Running. Essentially the same thing with a much better written text. Happy Running THB
