After seeing the rave reviews, I was excited to try this new book. Unfortunately, upon receiving it, I was disappointed. I’m an experienced cook who likes a wide variety of foods; this book offers easy recipes, but the variety is limited. At one point, I felt like I had read 10 ways to recreate instant rice!
This book would be excellent for new cooks who are unsure of how to combine foods or don’t want to take the time to experiment. The recipes are quite easy, healthy and include ingredients almost everyone will have.
This book is NOT useful for those of us who know our way around a kitchen, though, or who understand common sense ways to cut down on fatty foods.
I love to cook and was looking forward to the “down home cooking” recipes. However, I found most contained artifical sweeteners, which I do not use. I was looking for a low fat, healthy cookbook using fresh ingredients. I glanced through about 1/3 of the book and could not find one recipe that I was interested in, so I returned it.
This is a wonderful cookbook for a working person. I found I had almost all of the items already in my kitchen and the receipts are so easy and quick to put together.
The majority of my recipes come from Dawn Hall’s cookbooks and my entire family and friends love the meals I make. They are easy, delicious and healthy! I highly recommend them!
Great cookbook to transform traditional bad foods to good foods. We love these recipies. They use few ingredients and they are easy to find at the store. The spiral bound cover lets it lay flat on the counter while you are cooking which is always a plus. This is great for teenagers and things to make for them after school or let them make it themselves. I have found some of the calorie counts to be off since my brand of what ever item may not be the same as what the writer uses. Like the burgers covered in biscuits…I’ve not found biscuits as low at my grocery. Overall it remains a 5 star product.
